Moppity Twelve Signs Moscato 2019

Lower in alcohol at 8% this Moscato is well balanced with both fruit and acid. There are intense aromas of fragrant aromatic fresh orange blossom, along with ripe citrus leading to an interesting palate. Totally fruit driven with sweet fruit, citrus, and floral tones, well balanced acid equalises the sweetness and it finishes dry. Great served well chilled on a hot day, enjoy now over summer, perfect at lunch time. Stephen Read

The colour is intense deep ruby red, with aromas of earthy tones, savoury notes, plums, sweet dark fruits, and cherries all add to the complexity of the nose. Olé, Olé, Olé! A ‘serious’ Tempranillo from Australia to challenge the variety of it’s origin. A medium to full bodied wine with plums and some ripe red cherries which sit beautifully on your palate – and some ‘attitude’ on the finish. On a $ for $ scale, compared to our Spanish amigos, this Barossa Tempranillo makes a statement that will appeal to pinot consumers that are looking for more substance from their wine. Enjoyed it immensely. Leo Daly.

Allegiance Wines The Artisan Coonawarra Merlot 2019

Deep ruby with purple hues clear and bright. The nose while subtle is complex with herbal nuances, red berries, plums along with sweet oak and floral tones. The palate is medium bodied and complex with layers of sweet plums, red berries, tight tannins and a textural mouthfeel, leading to a tight finish with good length. Will improve with 4 plus years in the cellar. Stephen Read

Ruby red in the glass, this ‘consumer friendly’ Merlot is generous and ‘fat’ on the palate with attractive stewed fruit and plum characters. Quality oak treatment adds to it’s appeal and complexity leaving the consumer not disappointed. The silky finish doesn’t equal it’s big brother varietals Shiraz or Cabernet, but ‘hello’ it’s Merlot!! A medium bodied, well rounded and more-ish wine. Leo Daly

Allegiance Wines The Artisan Clare Valley Petit Verdot 2017

Petit Verdot as a varietal in Australia is traditionally unheard of. In Bordeaux it sits perfectly in their traditional mix. This 100% Petit Verdot from the unfashionable Clare Valley puts it’s hand
up and says look at me! Deep inky red in the glass, the nose has attractive blackcurrant and violet hues. The palate is the biggest surprise with earthy licorice, red plum with some oak maturation evident. And to top it off the lingering finish has some soft tannins. Leo Daly

Complex aromas of red fruits with floral notes, ripe blackcurrants and subtle vanilla oak make up the nose. It’s colour is dense inky red nearly black, clear and bright whilst the palate is also intense. Starting with active clean tannins, spice at the front, with red fruits, subtle oak all combining in layers of flavour and texture. The acid is firm and adds to the overall balance. Give this wine 5+ years in the cellar for its best. Stephen Read
